Thank you very much for your comments and questions. About 90% of all imported palm oil is supplied to Russia in tankers. Palm oil and its fractions are supplied in bulk, mainly by large-capacity ocean-going tankers (15-25 KMT) directly from Malaysia or Indonesia to the Black Sea ports of Russia. Then the oils are transported by railway to specialized enterprises in different regions. This option is more economical than shipments via Rotterdam. Supply of tropical raw materials to enterprises in the north-western Russia is carried out through the Baltic Sea ports (Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg), by low-tonnage vessels with a displacement tonnage of 1.5-2.5 Th tons. The latter deliver technical and edible oils from Germany and the Netherlands after transhipping from ocean tankers. In the south, specialized facilities for vegetable oils handling are available in two ports - Taman and Rostov-on-Don. “EFKO Food Ingredients” is the owner of the handling complex in Taman, and “Aston” owns the facilities in Rostov-on-Don. Transshipment complex “EFKO Food Ingredients” currently handles nearly 60% of total tropical oils imports to Russia. The terminal in Rostov also carries out shipments of sunflower oil for exports.

Thank you for your presentation. Could you give your views on why the palm oil players in Rotterdam do not actively involved in palm oil trading in Russia. Being near to Russia, I believe that there could be as competitive as other suppliers.
